Fast Water Pump Priming at the Touch of a Button

Traditional methods of Water Pump Priming have involved the use of liquid ring vacuum pump technology. However, the days of rusty, leaking, slow and costly priming of water pumps with associated high maintenance costs is over. CompreVac, as the leading supplier of Vacuum Pump Systems have been approached by several Provincial Water Authorities and tasked to find a quicker, cleaner, space and energy saving method of raising a head of water to enable the fast and efficient start-up of large centrifugal pumps, commonly found in water pumping stations.

The ‘CompreVac Water Priming System,' consists of two Electronically Controlled Vacuum Pumps mounted on a Vacuum Storage Receiver with a separate Automatic Drain System. These modern, State of the Art, Vacuum Pumps require no water sealing system, thereby eliminating corrosion, additional piping and costly maintenance requirements. The depth of vacuum generated by these pumps enables water to be drawn up to station pumps for priming purposes very quickly and from far greater depths than was previously possible.

The PLC Control System enables the Vacuum Pumps to be available on a rotational basis and provides for redundancy due to maintenance. Should water be drawn back into the system, an ingenious but simple solenoid valve arrangement automatically takes care of draining the system without losing any vacuum.

The capital cost of a ‘CompreVac Water Priming System' is comparable to a conventional priming arrangement however, the installation, annual maintenance and energy costs will provide huge savings over water sealed vacuum pump methods.

CompreVac, based in Mississauga , Ontario have been providing solutions for industrial vacuum and compressed air applications since 1975.
